73:3 For I envied those who are proud,

as I observed ¹  the prosperity ²  of the wicked.

73:12 Take a good look! This is what the wicked are like, ³ 

those who always have it so easy and get richer and richer. ⁴ 

Yakobus 5:5

5:5 You have lived indulgently and luxuriously on the earth. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. ⁵

[73:12]  ³ tn Heb “Look, these [are] the wicked.”

[73:12]  ⁴ tn Heb “the ones who are always at ease [who] increase wealth.”

[5:5]  ⁵ sn James’ point seems to be that instead of seeking deliverance from condemnation, they have defied God’s law (fattened your hearts) and made themselves more likely objects of his judgment (in a day of slaughter).
